Are You Consuming with Intention?

Picture this: It’s 3:00 am, and you can’t sleep. Feeling bored, you head to the kitchen. You aren’t hungry, yet you pick up a box of cheddar crackers and decide to watch an episode of The Big Bang Theory. Before you know it, you’re happily munching away without even thinking about it.

Does this sound familiar?

It’s a bit of mindless consumption we’ve all experienced!

What have you been consuming that is causing you to feel out of balance lately?

We must carefully nurture and cultivate the thoughts and choices that nourish our bodies and minds. What we consume— physically, emotionally, and mentally—shapes who we are and how we feel.

The Physical Consumption

The food we take in converts into the energy (Qi) that fuels our lives. Equally important is the intention behind our choices.

Are you eating and drinking on autopilot?

Often, when we feel hungry, we grab a bag of chips and munch away without really thinking about whether this is what our body truly needs at that moment. But what if, instead, your body is signaling a need for essential nutrients—like vitamins and minerals from fruits and vegetables—yet you misinterpret these signals and opt for the crispy, fried chicken? When you take a moment to listen to your body's cues, such as feelings of fatigue or a craving for fresh vegetables, you can make healthier, more nutritious choices that truly nourish you. Paying attention to these signals leads to better decisions about what you eat, ultimately fostering a deeper connection between your body and your dietary habits.

It is just as important to act intentionally with the liquids you ingest. In my late 30s, I realized that drinking alcohol didn’t resonate with me anymore. I noticed that the casual enjoyment of a cocktail during social gatherings no longer brought me enjoyment and would leave me feeling anxious at night. I gradually realized the alcohol was lowering my vibration and causing me to feel disempowered. Once I became aware of this pattern, I decided to be more intentional about my choices. I opted for a refreshing kombucha or flavored water with a splash of lemonade instead of sipping wine just because everyone else around me was. Life became much more peaceful and balanced once I shifted my mindset.

What if you approached eating and drinking as a mindful activity - with intention and gratitude?

Embracing mindful eating and drinking choices will help you cultivate a more peaceful and balanced life full of vitality.

The Mental Consumption

As I’ve matured into my late 40s, I’ve discovered how profoundly influenced I am by what I read, watch, and listen to. Looking back 10-15 years ago, it's surprising how much time I spent on shows like "The Real Housewives" and "The Walking Dead," unaware of how they fueled my anxiety. Today, I focus on educational YouTube videos and uplifting movies and shows that feed my soul. It’s truly inspiring to feel my nervous system relax when I immerse myself in heartwarming love stories!

It's vital to align the content we consume with the lives we aspire to lead. I remember hearing Joe Dispenza say, at a workshop I attended, that he would never watch or read anything he didn't want to happen in his life. That moment was a revelation for me. I fully agreed and decided to avoid violence and unnecessary drama in my entertainment.

The Emotional Consumption

The emotions of those around us can significantly influence our own emotional state. Just like a sponge absorbs water, we can take in the joy, sorrow, anxiety, or warmth of others, allowing these feelings to blend with our own. Each of us has an electromagnetic field surrounding our heart—our emotional center—that can sense the feelings of others. In the same way, people can perceive our emotions, making it essential to take care of our emotional well-being. We impact others just as they impact us. Think about the times you've been affected by an angry person in your life. I’ve encountered a few individuals who seem to thrive in a state of anger, which has negatively affected me. Nowadays, as I work on my personal growth, I find that I no longer attract angry people into my life.

Have you ever paused to consider which emotions you’ve absorbed from the people around you?

An effective way to release the burdens of negative energy from your surrounding aura is by engaging in a transformative Qigong aura-clearing meditation. This practice revitalizes your spirit and restores harmony to your energetic field. I invite you to join my upcoming classes, where we will embark on a journey of cleansing and renewal together. Let’s feel the weight lift as we meditate, allowing the vibrant energy of the universe to flow freely and rejuvenate our inner selves.

Think of your well-being like a thriving vegetable garden: choose to plant the seeds of all that you want to flourish within you—positive thoughts, inspiring articles, nourishing food—and continually care for yourself to keep the garden thriving.

What you consume -food, emotions, media, thoughts- all affect you, and then you affect others.

Choose to create a positive ripple effect across the planet by being intentional with what you ingest.

BE THE CHANGE!

Love,

Sharon
